Terran Alliance Army and Logisitical Corps
“portabo, et salvabo” – motto (“carry and deliver”)
The Terran Alliance Army and Logistical Corps consists of the logistical machine that drives the TAAF, the ATVU Corps, the heavy weapons troopers, the more rank-and-file ground troops, and the military police that fulfill security contracts. The Army is regarded as the expert in heavy weapons systems, and traditionally operate in conjunction with the Marines when deployed to the front lines. Some Army troopers receive training with Marine Combat Armor and operate side-by-side in squads with Marines. The Terran Army is also responsible for fulfilling corporate contracts made with the TAAF for location security, due to the laws passed in the wake of the Belt Rebellion that outlawed private security forces.

Logistics Command (LogCmd)
Commander: General Sandrine Snyders
Head:
Headquarters:
As Napoleon famously said, ‘an army travels on its stomach.’ Logistics Command’s job is to make sure that those stomachs are never empty due to broken supply lines, inadequate supplies, or lost shipments. It’s an unglamorous job, but somebody has to do it. Logistics Command is headquartered on Grand Island, NY, on Earth, in the same facility as Administration’s Resource Acquisitions department, as the two groups work closely together. Logistics Command also oversees the operation and command of military cargo vessels used to transport supplies to bases, and to resupply deployed fleets and scout teams. Unsurprisingly, Logistics Command is responsible for warehousing supplies and equipment of all sorts in numerous locations, but they are also in charge of vessels that have been mothballed, at least until the vessels are reactivated – at which point they are transferred to Navy control.
Training Command (ArmTra)
Commander: General Eric Simon
Army Training Command oversees the training of both enlisted men and officers. Enlisted troops are trained at any one of six training commands across the Alliance (four are on Earth, one is on Mars, and one has recently been opened on the Alpha Prime colony). Troops enlist for three, six or nine years and are trained in a technical specialization. Enlisted basic training takes six months, which is followed by a year and a half of additional on-the-job training.
Officers are trained at the Army Officer Academy complex in South Africa on Earth. Officer training takes four years, after which the officer is obliged to serve for another ten, although most make lifetime careers out of the Army. Similar to enlisted soldiers officers also choose a technical specialization. Specializations Include:
- Artillery
- ATVU Operations
- ATVU Maintenance
- Logistics
- Security
- Ordnance Survey
- Medical
Army Command (ArmCom)
Head:
Headquarters:
Army Command is headquartered on Navy Island, Ontario, Canada on Earth (in a location originally intended to hold the United Nations). Army Command oversees the operations of all other Commands, as well as personnel, readiness, and strategic planning.
Security Command (SecCmd)
Head:
Headquarters:
Originally SecCmd just provided security and law enforcement for TAAF ground installations, but in the wake of the Belt Rebellion it has expanded out to be a far larger department, since the Terran Army is now responsible for fulfilling contracts for security at corporate locations.
Ordnance Survey (ArmOrdSur)
Head:
Headquarters:
The Ordnance Survey group is responsible for mapping planets. The Navy’s Survey Command actually finds the planets, but the ArmOrdSur’s radar and holography satellites then scan the planetary surface and produce detailed maps. Modern maps contain more than just geographic features; electronically integrated into their data is information on political and cultural groups, communications and power lines, stochastic weather models and so on. ArmOrdSur is a general-purpose spy network just as much as it is a cartography section. ArmOrdSur is headed by General Benedict Hopper.
Army Medical (ArmMed)
Head:
Headquarters:
The Army Medical Command co-ordinates the efforts of the Medical section in each Army Group. It also operates the various military hospitals.
ATVU Command (AtCom)
“fer magnum bombardium” – motto (“Carry a big gun”)
Head:
Headquarters:
The Terran All Terrain Vanguard Unit Force is a division of the Terran Army, focused on the use of ATVUs. Their primary role is close-range artillery and heavy weapons support. The All Terrain Vanguard Units developed during the Third World War were formidable weapons, and paled only in comparison to the space-based weaponry used during that conflict. A single detachment of ATVUs, 3 units, can decimate a city if properly supplied with ammunition, as was made evident during their use in the Battle of Rome and extensive use in Iran during World War III.
Reserve Command (ResCom)
Alliance Army Guard (GuardCom)
Members of the Alliance Guard are former civilians who have chosen to voluntarily serve in a position similar to the Reserves. Guard forces are funded and equipped by the Terran Alliance, however they primarily serve inside a member state. While the member state they live in has a modicum of command over them, there are legal restrictions placed on what they can and cannot be used for. Guard forces cannot be used as a police force, nor can they be used for actual military operations. Rather, they operate in the fields of civil defense, emergency response, and civil engineering on public works such as dams, levees, and the like.
Special Operations Command (SpecOps)
Head:
Headquarters:
SpecOps is the unified special operations command, under Army jurisdiction.
While it primarily is in charge of relatively mundane (read: non-supernatural) forces, SpecOps does have the authority to call in support from the SDA’s 9th Directorate for certain operations. Special Operations Command is comprised of three companies, each with four platoons - one each of Special Assault Service, Combat Swimmer Flotilla, Forward Combat Recon, and Combat Search and Rescue.
- Special Assault Service (SAS) - The best known of the SpecOps teams, the Special Assault Service are commandoes who can be dropped far behind enemy lines to complete the most difficult of missions. They are experts in reconnaissance, sabotage, infiltration and long-term covert training of indigenous peoples. They have access to the most advanced equipment.
- Combat Swimmer Flotillas (CSF) - The CSF are the nautical version of the SAS, designed to operate in planetary oceans. They use advanced wetsuits, some of which can crack oxygen from seawater for up to two weeks. They also use mini-submarines, aerial insertion tactics, and small naval vessels.
- Forward Combat Recon (FCR) - The FCR are the elite recon units of Special Operations, equipped with the best in stealth and surveillance gear.
- Combat Search and Rescue (CSR) - The CSR specialize in retrieving downed pilots, stranded personnel, and missing persons. Every CSR operative is trained as a trauma medic, and the team can be dropped into the most hostile terrain and still make pickup. The CSR are undoubtedly the most honored branch of SpecOps in the TAAF, as many downed pilots owe the CSR their lives.
1st Company
2nd Company
3rd Company - "The 108 Stars of Destiny"
Headed up by Marshal Tao Yuen, the 108 Stars of Destiny is kept at a staffing level of 108 per the orders of the Marshal. Each of the 108 commandos is assigned an internal Company designation based on one of the characters of the classical Chinese novel commonly known as Water Margin or Suikoden.
1st Platoon - Special Assault Service Colonel-General
2nd Platoon - Combat Swimmer Flotillas Colonel-General
3rd Platoon - Forward Combat Recon Colonel-General
- 1st Section - Major-Colonel
- 2nd Section - Major-Colonel
- 1st Squad - "Summer Triangle" - 1st Squad operates off of [CRP-447] S.S. Vega (JR54), a [Janus-class Runabout] modified under the Special Operations Command's Sneaker Program which disguises low-profile military vessels as civilian and corporate ones. The Vega is registered to [Nolan-Guise Avionics] and is listed as being under the control of Joseph Nolan, reportedly the the head of security of the company and son of the owner.
- Major Emilia Ranta, "Albireo" "Sun Erniang" "Female Yaksha" - The squad commander of 1st Squad is a psion with a talent for manipulating animals. Known for operating solo for extended periods of time, it is not uncommon for 1st Squad to deploy without her direct support.
- Lieutenant Major Joseph Nolan, "Vega" "Zhou Tong" - Liutenant Major Nolan is the squad's engineer - and more recently xenoculture expert. He recently completed a stint serving with the security forces on the Sirius Trade Station before rejoining his squad.
- Gunnery Warrant Officer Second Class Isabèl Palomer, "Altair" "Wang Dinglu" "Living Goddess of Lightning" (https://www.dropbox.com/s/cbsqv3spsub7kh1/dc06bfbbe3b2fd505eb346fccfe93aa356f8f9db_hq.jpg?dl=0) - Listed as the squad's sniper, Warrant Officer Palomer has been in active service since before World War III, but of course the downside to being a Contractor is that nobody ever believes your age. A lightning contractor who earned the moniker “Living Goddess of Lightning” in the early 2020s, she is the squad's offensive magical support.
- Senior Gunnery Sergeant Cress Dalton "Deneb" "Bai Sheng" - Much like his designation, Deneb’s lacked a stable job before entering the Army and spent his days idly gambling (with much success) and studying ‘for the fun of it.’ All that knowledge finally found a use in the service of Special Operations where he serves as the squad’s intelligence and technical expert. While the squad was engaged in covert actions in 2027 Deneb’s body was lost (literally) in a classified accident, however quick response from Altair and Vega (you) managed to preserve his consciousness in a nearby quantum computing unit. Theoretically, Deneb could be reintegrated into his body (if it was ever found again), however the formula for the actual reintegration is a closely-guarded secret by those who know it. During World War III it was suspected that the Russian Federation’s Необъяснимая управление (Н Branch) developed an invocation formula that could be used on both pseudo AI and genius loci, however the invocation formula was stolen by unknown actors during the conflict. Dalton uses a variety of drone bodies to support the squad, and functions in place of a wirehead aboard the Vega.
