Heroic characters gain Hero Points, which are a daily resource pool used to do Cool Stuff℠. The base number of hero points a character receives per day based on their level. Hero points do not carry over from day to day, and some feats or talents may increase this pool size.

Using Hero Points

On your turn, you may spend a Hero Point as a free action to roll 1d6 and add the result to a single attack roll, skill check, or ability check. You can do this once per round. At 8th level, when you spend a Hero Point, you instead roll 2d6 and take the best die result as your bonus; at 15th level you roll 3d6 and take the best die result as your bonus.

Some talents, spells, powers, and nanite abilities require Hero Points to activate, or allow you to spend Hero Points to enhance their function in some way. In addition, if you are have any form of per-encounter suite based ability (spells, powers, force formulae, etc) you may spend 1 Hero Point as a swift action to return a single spent suite item to your active suite. This may not be used to return an incantation, true incantation, or nanospell to your active suite.

If you are reduced to 0 hit points and would be killed, you can spend a Hero Point as a reaction to avoid death and instead fall unconscious.

Unless noted otherwise, you can only spend one Hero Point per round.

Regaining Hero Points

Your pool resets to full after you have had a chance to complete a standard, uninterrupted rest cycle for your species. Performing especially heroic or daring acts may restore hero points as well (subject to the GM's decision).
